Few reasons why tmnet sxxxs

I called to complain about an internet connection failure. Belowe are some interesting conversation between me and 'agent'

Me: Unfortunately i'm not at my computer and modem coz i dun have a landline upstairs, but i do know the DSL light ....
Agent A: can you see the modem lights here? Because we need customer to be in front of modem...
Me: No i cant it's upstairs, why not you call me on my mobile in a minute i'll just go upstairs immediately
Agent A: No our company policies is that we don't call the customer.. ok Mr Chiam what i would advice you is you try to be at the computer, switch on your computer, and give us a call so we can try our best to help you.
Me: Alright, but if you dont mind may i know your name? So i can refer to you when i call back in a minute.
Agent A: Mr. Chiam when you call us back, an agent will pick up your call and follow up with you, just tell them you have done the direct connection and ....

(ok whatever)

well, what kind of policy is that? If i dont have mobile means i'm gone? do you know how much it cost for a customer to call you with mobile and listen to all your verifications again, and ask the same questions again?
Certainly, in UK they call you back without question.

Agent B: (ask all the lengthly questions again, more than what i expected.)
I wasn't pissed because it's a she =P

bang!!!!! WTH you din even inform me, i thought you were trying to find out whom i spoke to.. and you and me all the verifications and teach me how to do all those experiments again!!

I was frightened by a noisy bee who appeared out of a sudden in my room.
I tried so hard to lead this bee to the opened window as i saw it struggled to escape through another fixed window.

It finally got tired, no more noise. then i saw it walking slowly to the opened window. I was glad. just when i thought it needed a push towards escape, it fell down, dropped into my room heater. OMg, it's gonna die??

Next, it's walking on the floor, and after few minutes, finally flew off through window.

Funny enough, after 30 minutes, i saw a bee 'knocking' my window.

I see, it definitely din expect the rain before it flew off :)

London shares weaker ahead of GDP data

London equities continued to fall on Tuesday as traders awaited data that are expected to show a return to growth in the UK economy.

The first reading for fourth-quarter gross domestic product, due out at 9.30am, looked set to confirm an end to the recession after six successive quarters of decline.

“I would be astounded if the UK did not grow in the fourth quarter of 2009,” said Howard Archer, chief UK and European economist at IHS Global Insight. However, he cautioned: “Serious doubts remain about the strength and sustainability of the UK’s economic recovery, given the still very challenging economic and financial environment it faces. Indeed, for many people, it may not even feel like recovery for some time to come.”

As traders waited for the numbers, London-listed resource stocks were once more taking the biggest toll on the market, tracking weaker base metals prices on worries about the impact on demand of tighter monetary policy in China. Anglo-Swiss miner Xstrata was the biggest single casualty on the FTSE 100, down 3.1 per cent at £10.68.

Overall, London’s benchmark index fell 33 points to 5,227.70, putting it on course for a fifth consecutive session of losses. All but one of the 10 biggest fallers came from the mining sector.

The selling was broad-based, with only a handful of stocks – mainly defensives – registering small gains. A rise of just 0.5 per cent to 640.7p was enough to make electricity and gas distributor National Grid the best performing stock on the FTSE 100.

An upbeat note on European airlines from Morgan Stanley helped British Airways buck the wider downwards trend to rise 0.4 per cent to 208.3p. Although the broker did not issue specific comment on the UK flag carrier, it said conditions faced by the wider sector were looking brighter.

“We are more comfortable that passenger, cargo and capacity trends will be favourable in 2010,” it concluded in a note to clients. “We expect passenger volumes to rebound by 3 to 4 per cent for major carriers and 10 per cent for low-cost carriers, and cargo tonnes to grow by 10 per cent.”

The FTSE 250, seen as more representative of the domestic UK economy, fell 27 points to 9,265.90.

PartyGaming was the biggest faller among mid-caps after co-founder Anurag Dikshit announced he was selling his remaining 10 per cent stake in the online gaming group. The shares fell 5.8 per cent to 276.4p.

I personally think that's a good way for education, at least you have quality time learning.

However, homeschooling has a drawback i think, you dun get chance to involve in large community, like societies in school, to learn human relationships, share common ideas, etc. If we can solve this, things should be better.

These few days i have been studying for my exam on next Monday. Other than studying, it's cooking, online, study again...
I couldn't sleep tonight. It's 3a.m. here. Many pictures came through my mind. Images like i playing trumpet, playing badminton, and some high school memory - yes, i miss Malaysia. Believe it or not, I was thinking how my high school life would have been better, i.e. more fun, more achievements in school band and P.P. Yeah, I would like to go over them again and this time, i'm gonna achieve more. There's just so so many things that i should've done and could be done.

Come to think of it, these few days, i ain't doing nothing to improve myself other than preparing for exam and having a lil entertainment during break. I must say this exam is not really important one. I was proud I could be determined to prepare for my exam. Now i think i wasted too much time. It's just an excuse to avoid myself from doing other things. It's a bit complicated i must admit, but what i'm trying to say is, It'll still be the same if i started my high school life again.

7.30am done brushing teeth and washing face (important if you want to look fresh and handsome)

My experience in London

It's great to travel in London especially with big gang of 'LJ' friends. No doubt it's fun 'killing', healing, spying and accusing each other when we are free :)
Mafia!!!

Visited some places like Tower Bridge, Madam Tussauds Wax Musuem, China Town, Eye of London, House of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Oxford circus, Picadilly circus, etc. Frankly speak, London hasn't impressed me too much yet. Mayb i'm from KL - another great city indeed.
However, i have to admit the transportation system in London is very good. Tube(rail) was my primary transportation and I'm amazed that almost every point in the big city is connected well by tube. Standing on the city of London, I could never believe there is another 'city' of railway system beneath me.

Didn't manage to visit a lot of places actually. I arrived London on the 23th late evening. By the time i sort out my tube travelcard (Oyster Card - don't ask me! i dont know why they call that Oyster card) and meet/have dinner (10 Pounds per person :'C ) at China Town, it's already too late to visit any shops. So we went to see Eye of London (from far), and House of Parliament (from outside). Then other places on 24th. Fact is Wax Musuem is the only place we actually paid and explore.

25th is Christmas - No transportations at all, no shops open at all. No food, no travel - we stayed at room to play 'mafia'. 26th is Boxing day. That means there are sales in UK!! Oxford circus (Oxford St) is where all branded shops gather, just imagine an outdoor Pavilion KL. Woke up super early to 'grab' goods like Esprit, Topman, Zara, Levi's, CKJ, Guess, Nike, Puma...... yeap, sales are up to 70% and still i'm only able to buy intermediate products.. .. Spent Rm 700 there =.=

27th woke up early - Back to Coventry =) ahh.. Cov football team just lost....

Interesting event: There is this Nike Town London - building for Nike products. We were chatting with a staff while shopping. Suddenly, the staff looked excited and said: "hey buddy where you get this spec?", "oh.. I bought it from Malaysia, some UK Optical Shop","wow it's really nice.." then more staffs came to see my spec and discuss =.= It seemed like having such spec is unbelievable and damn awesome. Well, never could I expect that. I come to think: could it be it's unbelievable because they have never created such product but someone happen to be wearing it?

hmm.. surprisingly, there aint too much daily expenses to me. Food? well.. Indeed i spent less than what i did in Malaysia. It's only about 8 Ringgit now. However, I'm not those who don't enjoy life.. sometimes I do spend money to indulge my stomach :) that means a 1.99 item? like.. GoGo's chicken? well, note that 1.99 aint big money in UK. So averagely.... a 2.00 pounds per day?
fortunate enough for me to study in Coventry, and not London

I have almost everything necessary in the house coz I'm staying off campus, that means all household equipment provided by a kind local landlord. All i ever did was a 2.50 Pounds wok? 7 Pounds ironing board? yea..
In fact i'm getting the 3rd largest room in my area. (I suspect it's almost among all students of Warwick). Largest room would be the room above me, and second largest the room beside me. Three of us has largest living room in this area. Guess what, we're paying least. 260 per month INCLUSIVE bills.

Recently i'm obsessed about clothing though.. In fact, i have everything needed which i brought from Malaysia.
highest defence jacket(spaceman jacket, fat), trapper (hat) and glove i have... all very not fashionable and off brand
long johns which are sufficient for the winter (i think.. coz if not enough, just wear more..) note that i hate long johns.. ugly and not comfortable. kaki bulu very zo gai...
jeans i have, good looking pants i have, winter pants i have.. (winter pants + long john, 0 degree also nevermind lah.. sure boleh tahan.. just that leg a bit heavy lo)
well.. point is i hate fact that i have almost everything - means i cant buy .. i thought having a leather jacket is necessary.. well, dad suddenly bought it in China and mailed me.. well.. ok loh.. good also. happy.. saved my money..
so now's the plan. Buy myself a branded winter coat.. look nice and pro.. like this...

Ya... then i might not need to wear that fatty spaceman coat anymore. What else? I dont know lah.. shoes all have d. mayb an adidas jogging shoe? hmm.. or a real nice glove from Nike? or Everlast Beanie? yea.. you got it.. I'm obsessed about sports product now. very the.. I bought some :)

Swimming suit.. well i just get the cheapest.. shower gel got offer.. hey, kinda cool when u shower with sports gel after sports games.. google.. well, speedo is superior but choose nike coz suits me. Sports drink?? thirsty lo..Slazenger? Like i said.. it's coolest ever. why? we can discuss in detail soon :)

Would like to share some cases.. they could be funny =P

Some of you may know I have a damn ugly must very 'tahan cold' jacket which i bought from China. The fat fat black jacket. Guess what. that saved me when i was sick.

Some day ago, i received a parcel from parents. they sent me two jackets. From the phone mom said she doesnt like one of them. It's the F1 Ferarri jacket - 'too red', too flowerish. She said dad claimed i will like it. (he's the one who bought the jacket)
Well, i thought.. mayb my dad knows me well? he would surprise me? or as usual.. just to cover his silly taste on shirts?
So.... i opened the parcel. oh no.... i cant accept it. it does not make me look smart.. size too big, not practical.. i laughed.. lol and i sent him a message: Chiam is disappointed on his dad's taste..

I lost my student travel card again. So unpredictable! i went tesco by bus (i used the card) to pick up a friend of mine. and when i wanted to come back, i realised the card was not with me. Within 30 minutes, lost...

So, I thought like last time, i would find it back in few days. This time i'm smart, i write down name (so they can tell me on facebook) and email (so they can email me). So, I should find it back easier compared ot last time. So unpredicatable.. coz i still haven't find it back. and i've spent quite a lot on transport these few days.

One more surprising thing is my housemate went to london - now i'm usnig his bike :) :) yes! no need to pay for bus!! hahahaha!!!!!
oh.. i din realise my another housemate drive MerC.. =.= just found out today.

Ok, what i want to say is, the fat black jacket can be used while i cycle to tahan extreme cold wind, and red Ferarri jacket can be used as safety jacket on a bike now because it's bright! because all my jacket is black! dangerous! haha..

This year was a good one :)

Most cherished one: Received so many wishes this year! more than 60 by text, more than 20 orally. Well, thanks to facebook =.= a lot of people whom i don't know wished me..

Most celebrated one: total 3 celebration events. (small ones) haha... no cake no balloons :(

Most dramatic one: some soh mui suddenly say wanna come and wish me face to face, then come all the way to my place to 'celebrate', ended up i cooked dinner, supper, breakfast for her, and till now she din realise that she forgot to wish me birthday..

Bit disappointed? haha: friends supposed to come visit my house for some reason, ended up both teams cancelled plan.

Eating at Warwick student card
- I found myself without that card. but was rushing to somewhere.. i thought i didnt search clearly. well.. when i came back, i searched again.. and again..
second day afternoon, as usual checking emails... oh my god (OMG) i received email saying my card is found, and is ready to be collected!
Yeah - got it back with same amount of credit insie :)

Student travelcard
- It was a lovely evening, cold, raining(slightly)... and i was on my way back home after lecture. Erm, first time in UK bus a girl sit beside me. Guess what, Asian (a bit pretty). Well, so i was bored and down in the bus.. and you know.. chemistry.. haha...
reached. i got down from the bus.. actually we talked to each other... excuse me(i was sitting inside).. ops sorry.. LOL so after i got down, i looked into the bus, through sound proof window, and i saw her looking at me. So i looked back. Now she seemed interested. I'm sure she is looking at me, with her big round eyes and weird expression.. she wave her hand. Oh.. now i see, my student travelcard was in her hand. =.=

The whole night i was thinking if i have name on that card. If yes, she can always add me in fb rite? after two days, i went to a reception to random check. OMG, they have it.

- Someone added me on facebook, ah.... not the girl ya. haha.. He said he wanna discuss something with me. So i add. mayb some guy trying to publicise something?
"Hey i found plastic packet with money in it and it had a receipt of accommodation which had ur name on it. I gave that plastic packet which had the money to a warwick representitive who told me that they have a lost and found department. He told me that he will..... "

-I've been very careful! everytime i take out my passport i'll be extra careful! why? i have no idea where i lost it!! haizz... I remembered i kept it safely in luggage, and i check twice to make sure it's fine (i was rushing to a megabus in the evening)
Damn, not in the luggage anymore, i cant find it anywhere, been week!. so i sent email to Malaysian Commision in London for enquiry. WTF, one week only reply!
ah... nvm anyway, i found it on my table in a book. Yeap i did keep it safely. the book was inside the luggage.

It's also some important date for me, some important anniversary date. Ya, story started two years ago on this date. I remembered we spent time after college, in a certain car, by that certain road. and i gave her my first 'present'.
Last anniversary we ended up arguing. I remember. She wasn't happy that didn't celebrate with her. I remember i planned to, but i had my band practice before that. And i remember i had no car. but then eventually i made it to her house by public transport. Well, i couldn't enjoy the night. She couldn't too. I want to say, i was the one who suffered everything, all you ever did was sitting at home, doing nothing but argue with me when i was trying the best for you. and i ended up leaving alone, walked back at late night in dangerous area. What did you do to help me? some concern and sincerity you gave, ya. That's the most you can give.

This year, you said you were emo when think of 1st Nov coming, you implied you still care for me. Well, don't bullshit ok? You could have come Northingham to meet me. I met so many friends, most i did not expect to see in UK, and see so many couples coming to meet up during the most famous annual event for Malaysian. Where were you? say study? don't bullshit, i have works too. It's 3.30am now and i just finished 50% assignment due tomorrow. (today) You could've come and if you wish, come Warwick for a weekend in a free bus. and not quarreling with me after attending emo concert(i thought u busy?), after i went for sports event and felt tired.

Badminton

It's about how well you control your emotion, analyze the competition while you are in the game. Every single shot you take, every single shuttle you place, determines everything.

In a competition, supporters 'make noise' to encourage you. In basketball, netball, volleyball, etc you use your body, your strength. Slogans from the crowd can heat you up, give you spirit and make you fight!
In badminton, it is not always the case. You are on your own, every single shot from opponent can be unpredictable, and any one can make you lose point. It's the same for your opponent, so you have to force opponent to make mistake. What if he doesn't?
after all, you need to control your emotion; when you are nervous, when you doubt yourself, when you made stupid mistake, when shuttle doesnt go the way you put, when opponent seem to be better, and WHEN OPPONENT IS INFERIOR!

one second being emotional, you will lose the point, and you could get nervous to lose another, and another. Normally 3 points wasted. (and that's not average, that's theoritical value! Situation could go till the last point of your game! and then you regret being nervous)

Well, now talk about why i like badminton. Because it's a very exciting game. Every point you win, is the result of patient, skill, and strategy. Of course, not only tension inside, fun and excitement too! when you and opponent make mistake together :) and see who's more lucky then...

Doubles
it's not about how good your partner is, how good your skills are. It's how well you guys perform as a team! In fact, it's two men standing on small court, what could stop you from getting any shot in any corner? To defend your certainly need skill, but the position you stand will decide if you have minimized your risk! it's team work. To attack, you may be good at smashing or you can 'shoot to kill', but who is the one who create such opportunity for you? It's team work, if you understand your partners well, you know what is in his mind - you will have common plan :)

I lost in the first round in badminton, to an inferior. I finally understand what is a competition, and what it's meant by spirit in sports game.

Today onwards, i will be determined in achieving things i want, and like in my life

1. Badminton - i miss my partner Chin Wei. I will practice my footwork, increase speed, and strength.
2. Trumpet - I will play Carnival of Venice one day
3. Piano - I will play one simple song one day
4. Fitness - Until i feel i can control my movement in badminton court!
5. Dancing - Simple basic will do, and ballroom dance of course
6. Academic achievement - being good and knowledgeable, respected. enough.
7. Scholarship - Will get a scholarship!

just came back....

overall can see improvement in organizing. good job fellow members.
however i left the party right after F5 members ceremony...

well, the feeling just not right... looking at members talking while F5 member speaking in front., no invitation (and cards as well) for ex members, no people to serve ex members.... etc
in short members don't understand the meaning of MP. It's appreciation and a thank you ceremony.

I went to another MP few weeks ago. I was welcomed and respected very much though I'm super ex. there were people assisting me on registration, a welcome pack, escorting me to my seat, souvenirs, invitation to play games though we rejected so many times.

well this is not comparison, at least not my intention.

Nice day it was!
Departed to Desaru at 3pm (quite late actually). but suddenly decided to eat chicken rice at 'kota' before that.
.... suprise! met my cousin. =) that means lunch was free to us. haha...

So.. we traveled 60+ km to Desaru area. Don't get "mistaken notion", we're going to Batu Layar Resort which my cousin says is better (check out facebook).... turn left at Petronas staion into Desaru... take 3 at roundabout.. first left turning into Batu Layar. that's another 10+ km ...

well, did crazy thing...

and then swim! crazy too... sand in mouth and inners.. yes there was war!
we swam in rain. when it got heavy we ran to the car... and then find shower room.....(whatever) .... hungry!

So we drove back to Petronas and took left turn. which mean travel further away from our place, that's another 50+ km to seafood restaurant in Sg. Rengit/ Pengerang, in displacement. distance would be 90+ km. well...if you dont get, 40km is extra for taking wrong road. HAHAHHAHAHAH!!!

now i'm back! from Pengerang to Kota Tinggi.

Yes you are right! I just cut my hair this afternoon, then rushing to get this photo done (i was rushing for badminton). Unfortunately those lazy malay girls at teratai mewah didn't open the shop -.< !! Next, Dano Kota traffic light was so jam that i made a U turn........ then there is this 'pemandu berhemah' driving at 30km/h ...... argh!!

Well friends, I'm going to settle my visa tomorrow morning! I'm going to read (M)MORSE in University of Warwick, UK (Yes i have given up LSE for so many reasons). For those who wants to know what MORSE is, it's a degree/master program dealing with maths, operational research, stats, econs, actuarial & financial maths. It's been a great experience for me performing at this event. Loved the hall surrounding for my trumpet sound projection, the nice hall itself and the music! We play Prince of Egypt which consist deliver us, through heaven's eyes and when you believe... great! Oh ya, Air Brass ensemble also played Amazing Graze (Damansara commencement) and Rock 'N' Roll (Cheras commencement) with Mr. Chia =) random and spontaneous .. haha

I've always liked Egypt stories and music :)

Also, I know a lot of beautiful people there.. David Spencer the Jazz, Julian Chan the young pianist, "xue zhi' the oboeist, Melisa, mei hua, ...... all lovely people..

Chong Hwa Chinese Orchestra 'Autumn Musical' Concert

It was a very successful concert and it's organised by students. I was very happy to see most teachers and many 'orang besar' from all walks of chinese society attending this concert. I must say I sincerely appreciate their effort very much.

Compared to other outside school activities of uniformed bodies in Chong hwa (such as band, KP, KRS, PBSM....), this was the most successful one because you could see seatings are almost full, even at VIP seatings! School in some way showed their full support in this event though there had been arguments prior concert.

Furthermore, ex-members also show their supports by attending the concert and also performing on stage. It's a very good sign to the orchestra seeing ex-members coming back on stage. Please say thank you to your seniors :) haha

Music wise, it's a very good to combine Western (Cello) and Chinese instruments as the balancing was indeed very much better. However, the orchestra may need to focus on intonation especially on flutes. no offence ya :) .. ohya.. choice of songs too. People tend to get bored listening to same type of music.

So good luck to Chinese Orchestra! Hope the members are fired up now :) Take this concert as a motivation，create more miracles and make Chong Hwa more proud! 中华儿女吐万仗光芒！

The last few weeks i got my IELTS result:

Listening 6.5 Reading 7.0 Writing 7.0 Speaking 6.5
Overall Band Score 7.0

Unlike usual case where universities look at overall band score, my university in UK (LSE) requires 7.0 for all 4 components of IELTS. Well, score of 7.0 is a high requirement for any university entry because 7.0 is for 'good user' in english.
"Has operational command of the language, though with ocasional inaccuracies, inapproapriacies and misunderstandings in some situations. Genarally handles complex language well and understands detailed reasoning."
-defination of 'good user' behind the IELTS result slip.

After all, academic requirement should be the main concern of any university. I'm a 4 As student in GCE A-Levels (EDEXCEL) and this includes A in Law subject, where everything is examined through english essays.

I convinced myself that since LSE asks for 7.0 for 4 componets, that to certain extent reflects it's superiority in education. So i retake IELTS.

Plus, i'm an actuarial studies student, not econ not english....

I reached home with extreme frustration. Well, it's not something vivid but since i'm keen to have new post, i decide to express... lol!

damn it, i'm horse not pig. I don't understand why. What is the difference between 4.18 and 4.00? I remember i sacrificed a few times too without obvious complaint. Plus, 0.18 is nothing compared to effort to drive him, petrol, friendship and the 200 he just got. I treat him with sincerity while helping him, no doubt. (&)But i definitely will not comply such behavior in that particular case... Fine.

Well. That's about it. Everyone has different characteristics, and they change with time and experience. some could be annoying. But what important is tolerance. Maybe people tend to be more particular.. or clear after they start working.. who knows? D.S al coda... lol
